In the stillness of the night....
"I will be as dew unto Israel..." Hosea 14:5
Dew falls in the middle of the night and nourishes the vegetation, flowers, and grass while the pores on their leaves are open and ready to drink before the heat of the day approaches. On stormy, windy nights there is no dew. It needs the stillness of a cool night.
Sheep can survive for months without a brook when they feed on grass at night or in early morning hours when the grass is heavy with dew. The dew will sustain them until the rain comes.
So it is in our lives. To drink from His refreshing dew, we meet with Him in the late night hours when the world is quiet or early, early in the morning before the busyness of the day begins. His Word is heavy with the dew of His presence and we survive from the refreshing of the dew soaked Word.
In the wilderness when the dew was gone it left manna that sustained Israel until they reached their promised land. In order to receive the manna they had to rise each morning and gather the manna left from the dew. Walking through our wilderness He sustains us with a refreshing touch of His hand or visitation of His presence or an enlightened Word to us...this manna heavy with dew carries us until the rain comes!
I thank God this morning for the realness of His presence in my life...for the dew that sustains me during the heat of the day...and for the manna that comes down from above that nourishes me in my wilderness!
