“Can you hunt the prey for the lion? Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions when they couch in their dens or lie in wait in their hiding place? Who provides for the raven its prey when its young ones cry to God and wander about for lack of food? Do you know the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth their young? Or do you observe when the hinds are giving birth? (Do you attend to all this Job?) Can you number the months that they carry their offspring? Or do you know the time when they are delivered?” Job 38:39-41, 39:1-2 This week I have watched the dove, blue jay, woodpecker, cardinal; yellow finch and hummingbird eat from my feeders, find their own worms and drink pollen from my flowers. My Mom and I watched several deer as they moved through the field looking for food and a hiding place. Our neighbor’s geese feed in the front yard as if they own this house and the killdeer runs down the gravel driveway in front of our vehicle as if it is all her nest and I should drive some other path. It reminds me of God’s speech to Job. After all the difficulty Job has suffered and now in sackcloth and ashes scraping his boils with a potsherd, God speaks. He reminds Job that HE is the God that feeds lion cubs by sending prey into their den. He hears when raven offspring cry for hunger and HE feeds them. HE knows the due date of a mountain goat and when the hind will calve. I hear Him speaking all around me! He sends food for the birds of the air and sets a path for the deer, see the activities of the geese and killdeer. He sees every sparrow that falls to the ground and He clothes the lily of the field. His eyes are also upon the righteous! God loves His creation! He cares for what He has created! He watches over the beast of the field. We are, however, not only created BY Him, He breathed into Adam’s nostrils and he became a living soul. We are His offspring…His sons and daughters! If He cares for birds of the air, beast of the field and fish of the sea, I am confident He is watching over me! He sees our battles, storms, difficulties, sickness and loss. He knows when our heart breaks and He never slumbers. He knows the concerns of your heart and He is still a creator and will create a way where there seems to be no way! Be confident of this very thing…His eye is on the sparrow and I know He’s watching me! |
