Where Could I go?
If
my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and
will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. In the midst of great tragedy God is hearing the cry of a nation. Our hearts are broken for the sorrow of our brothers and sisters. We weep with those who weep and mourn with those who mourn. In this time of trouble we have but one place to run. We have only one God to turn to for safety. He is the rock of our salvation. He is the strong tower the righteous run into. He is our shield and buckler, for we know our God neither slumbers nor sleeps! We know His eyes are forever on His people, searching for one whose heart is perfect that He might show Himself strong. We would run to and fro in a frenzy of fear and pain if we had no Saviour. But thanks be to God, there is a Saviour, and a refuge, and a strong tower, and a comfort...and His name is Jesus! We stand on the promise of His Word that as a nation that has turned to prayer, He will hear one more time and heal our land. Let us do as the songwriter declares and turn our eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace! As individuals in this great body of Jesus Christ, let us also humble ourselves and pray...turn from any wicked way in our life, that He might heal us as individuals. We have great promises in His Word and a sure foundation to stand upon. We find great comfort in trusting Him. "Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His Word, just to rest upon His promise..." There is only one
place for us to run as the children of the living God...there is only one place
for us to go...where could I go but to the Lord! Previous Sermons
