A NEW BEGINNING

When I gave my life to Jesus Christ publicly at a tent meeting in 1948, it was a new beginning for me.   Since then I have realized January 1st is a new beginning for a new year.  Last year is gone.

I like spring because it is the beginning of trees budding, flowers blooming and birds singing.  You know, it is January 6th as I write this, I never hear birds singing when snow is on the ground.  Life is hard for them at this time and they have to work to find food.

Thank God, January 1st I feel set free from all my past and everything becomes another chance for me to live the life I desire for Jesus Christ, for my family, for my friends and for myself.  That’s why we make resolutions.  We feel our slate has been cleared and we have another chance at a good and happy life.  One day I will cross over Jordan spiritually and start a new beginning in God’s House with Jesus.

How many times toward the end of the year when we think of words we repented from, made in impatience or choices we made that didn’t give us the good results we expected.  How many times did we miss praying for someone in their presence or failed to say “I love you” when we really know love fills our hearts.  How many times did we fail to encourage someone God placed in our path to encourage?  We missed so much…but Praise His Holy Name we have a new beginning on January 1st to remember the failures of the past year and start being the instrument for God that He commands from us.

My New Year’s resolution is to draw closer to Jesus Christ until we become one...just like a Godly marriage between a man and a woman when you love everyone the same.

2007 is a memory.  Did you grow lukewarm in 2007?  Then you can begin again to fall in love with your first love…Jesus!

A blessed New Year has been given to us.  What are we going to do with it?

Let’s search for the Presence of God in our life in 2008!
