October 2006

I love this time of the year.  I have turned off our air conditioning and opened windows to let cool breezes blow through our home.  The sign of trees and flowers going to sleep is all around us.  The wind is blowing through the trees and it seems they are praising God for the end of a long, very hot and dry summer.  Many days of 100 degrees and many days with no rain has made for a difficult season for bearing fruit!  Ronnie and I bought soaker hoses to water our flowers and trees to help them survive this long dry summer.  There will be no need for watering now!  The rains have returned and the temperatures have returned to normal.  We are changing seasons!  Thank God!  This next season may look barren but it is actually the season of growth!  Sap moves to the roots to prepare for taller and stronger trees next year.  Everything on the surface will look dead but new life is being formed in the root system.  This is their season of rest.  They will come back in the spring with a new glory!

We are also changing seasons.  We have run diligently this summer from tent meetings to rented buildings to churches from state to state.  We have faced dry seasons left for nothing but trust.  I can feel the change coming!  Thank God.  We are now preparing our fall schedule with much anticipation.  Our 2nd Annual Fall Campmeeting will be held in Bethel Springs, Tennessee in October.  We have sent packets to our pastors and already we are receiving reports of preparations being made for this time of fellowship and visitation of His presence.  We have listed the motels for that area on our bulletin page and I know you will enjoy the fellowship of our host pastor and church, Marlene Austin and Victory Temple.  They so graciously opened their doors to us last year and prepared meals after the morning meetings that had all the air of old-time campmeeting!

Soon following the Fall Campmeeting, the ladies will meet in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for our 6th Annual Ladies Winter Retreat.  This has always been such a special series of services for the women.  At the end of a long year of battles and working for Him, it is a wonderful refreshing preparing us for the next season!  The services are power packed with His presence.  The fellowship has become like old-time family reunions as we gather Friday for a buffet lunch together.  There is time for the women to do last minute shopping for their families between services or simply enjoy driving through this winter wonderland. At the end of each service, we have prepared door prizes for the women and for a moment we are back in our childhood waiting to hear our name called for our surprise gift!  Time has stood still for us…we are women being refreshed by His presence, by the fellowship of our friends and the joy of our laughter!  Make plans now to join us this year.  All details for registration and motel reservations are on the Ladies Meeting page.  You will be so glad you did!
