God has an appointed end…and He is the
only One who knows when it is!
“In the six
hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day
of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep
broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.”
Genesis 7:11
How long was Noah in the ark….371 days! In Genesis 7:11 it began to rain.
Genesis 8:4 the ark rested on the mountain Ararat five months later.
Genesis 8:5 the tops of the mountains were seen…two and one half months later.
Genesis 8:13 Noah removed the covering on the ark…three months later.
Genesis 8:14-19 Noah left the ark….but it was another fifty-seven days later!
It appears it happened in a very short time from Genesis 7:11 until 8:14….but that was a span of 371 days! The entire storm was a process. Just as the building of the ark was a process…the passing through the storm was also a process. It had a beginning and an end…with a long time in between.
In our own lives, we enter into a storm and it seems like forever before it is over. We forget that the short version of the storms in the Word of God also carried on for long periods of time before the outcome. As difficult as it could have been being in the ark and not knowing when you would come out or what you would face when you did come out…there was an end…and a great end!
I don’t want to get side-tracked in the midst of my storm and think it will never end. It has a promised end….an appointed end…but He is the only One who knows when that is!
