As I was checking on my website this morning after devotions, I realized I haven’t made a blog post since March! It was the beginning of the pandemic and we had come home for what I thought would be 2 weeks.
This is December and we are still at home! This has been a very different year for us. For 37 years I have lived on the road preaching 5, 6, 7 days a week. Ronnie and I have spent very few days in our home sleeping in our bed or eating at our own table. By the end of June we had traveled to 4 revivals. The fourth one would be the last one scheduled for some time….that is where we were exposed to the virus. Most of you already know our journey….Ronnie due to his asthma ended up in ICU for fourteen days and according to his nurse, one day away from the ventilator when he passed out in the bathroom due to low oxygen.
Ronnie came home on July 23rd with oxygen full time and shortly after began pulmonary rehab online with a zoom session once a week and twice a week physical therapy in our local area due to his muscle weakness. He was released from his therapy the end of October. He also began to stay off of oxygen for an hour at a time in October and by November was completely off. He had began to sing again, his lungs were healing amazingly! Today he is so much better and we daily are praising God for how far he has come.
On March 19th I began a morning devotion at 8:30am and until September a 3:00pm devotion every day. Today I finished devotion #327. I never dreamed at the beginning that in December I would still be doing them, but I am so excited and thrilled….perhaps a little addicted to the morning devotions! Every day I pull aside for a few hours to prepare a 30 minute devotion to share with you. I have received many reports of how it is helping you….but I feel like it has helped me perhaps the most! I love how He is walking with me unfolding His Word and sharing His heart with me.
Every morning somewhere between 75-125 of you join me for devotion and throughout the day anywhere between 500-1000 tune in on their lunch break or after work for the devotion. I am so very thankful this morning for these months of spending my mornings with you, sharing the Word with you and praying with you for your family as we maneuver through this season of time.
Ronnie and I will return to evangelism at some point…. I am following the One who knows the way…. Until then, I am so enjoying how He is walking with us every morning. I invite you to join us every morning at 8:30 or sometime throughout the day for a time in His Word.
Also the first 25 days of December we are doing 25 Acts of Kindness. Each morning I share an act of kindness for the day.
Day 1….Be kind to yourself. Read a book, watch a movie with your feet up, get carryout for supper. Relax and be good to yourself.
Day 2….Send a kindness card to someone who has impacted your life or someone needing encouragement.
Day 3….Place a basket of snacks on your porch for your delivery person or a bag of treats in mailbox for your postal carrier.
Join us the remainder of this year as we focus on the beauty of kindness….
