“For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence you came out, where thou sowed thy seed and watered it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs. But the land whither you go to possess it is a land of hills and valleys, and drinks water of the rain of heaven. A land which the Lord thy God cares for, the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.”
“And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season….”
This is still the promise that we have from Him today! We WILL have hills and valleys for “in this world you shall have tribulation” but we have His promise that His eyes are always upon it and that “I have overcome this world.” What a great promise! What a great Father!
The Word of God continually refers to the mountains that His men climbed (literally climbed)….
Moses on Mount Sinai to hear from God, Elijah on Mount Carmel to bring glory to God and then on Mount Hebron (same as Sinai) to again hear from God and get direction for his life, and then Abraham on Mount Moriah to obey God. The only mountain that man did not climb was Noah and he was carried to Mount Ararat by the flood he had been in for nearly a year and the Word says ….he “rested” on Mount Ararat.
In order for us to travel from one mountain top to another, there will be a valley in between. Every day and every season is not a mountain top. Our life is made up of highs and lows…mountains and valleys….laughter and tears….sorrow and rejoicing. It is the ingredients that make us who we are! We can find comfort in knowing that we are in the best of hands….the hands of the Master Potter. He is shaping us, molding us, making us as vessels of honor for His use!
The mountain is where we “rest”, “breathe” and “prepare” for the next valley. The valley is what “molds” and “shapes” us and “prepares” us for the next mountaintop. You can trust in the promise that you are never closer to Him than you are when you are in His hands being molded and feeling the pressure of His shaping. You can trust that He does all things well and you will rejoice at the vessel He has made you to be.
Thank you for this word, Sister Becky. It is good to often hear that the Lord is always with us. We just need to listen to Him, trust Him and follow Him.
Thank God for his presence with us always
Thank you Sister Becky for the word. I needed this. You are a blessing. I thank God for you.
